Meals with locals in Marrakech

Repas chez l_habitant blanc

The best way to discover Moroccan cuisine is to try dishes prepared at home, by women with ancestral know-how. They know perfectly how to combine spices to delight the taste buds! For a gourmet break in the middle of an intense day of sightseeing in the medina, there's nothing better than to find yourself in the intimate cocoon of a Moroccan family who will take good care of you!

This home-cooked meal is an opportunity to spend a pleasant moment in contact with a Moroccan family, to discover the traditional way of life in the Medina, and to enjoy a delicious meal (nothing like what is served in restaurants for tourists!). You'll be able to ask your hosts any questions you may have, and they’ll open their doors to you; though their home is simple, their welcome is incredibly generous.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR HOMESTAY EXPERIENCE?

When booking, please specify the date and time slot of your choice, as well as any allergies or special dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten or lactose intolerance...). If you'd like a particular dish, don't hesitate to ask!

If you'd prefer to bring your hosts a small gift instead of leaving a tip, culinary or artisanal specialties from your region are always a good choice.

Choose clothes that cover the shoulders and knees, and avoid low-cut necklines for women.

A few tips to avoid cultural misunderstandings: in Morocco, men and women shake hands but don't kiss. You eat with your right hand (except when using a fork). And you remove your shoes before walking on a carpet.

And above all.. come on an empty stomach!

THEY TRIED A MEAL WITH THE LOCAL FAMILY

AND THEY SAY IT BETTER THAN WE DO!

“Several little experiences shared with friends during a stay in Marrakech: ideal for getting off the beaten track and discovering places and, above all, authentic Marrackchis! I particularly liked the evening cooking and dinner at a local's house, as well as Marrakech by night!”

Sybille
“Thank you so much for this experience, we loved it, it was very rewarding. Tarik welcomed us with a lot of kindness, no fuss, it was great! We had a good laugh with his nephew! What can I say about the meal except that it was really, really excellent! We really enjoyed it!”
