Essaouira Guide: The Must-Sees of the Medina

Nicknamed "the little Saint-Malo," clinging to the Atlantic Ocean, Essaouira, the former Mogador, is a historic port city. With its past as a trading post, its still very active port, the white and blue city thrives in a climate tempered by offshore winds. Its medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, its souks, fortifications, and port make it a delightful city to stroll around.

Accompanied by an official guide, you will learn during your walks through the alleys, the fishing port, or the ramparts that Essaouira has experienced a glorious past. From a great diplomatic and commercial city to a gathering place for hippies, it was also a transit point for slaves, and Gnaoua music remains a symbol of the city. The city also hosted a significant Jewish community, and the three religions still coexist peacefully. Your guide will take you through several centuries of history that few people suspect, and introduce you to the artisans who today contribute to the city’s reputation. A visit as educational as it is enjoyable !

THEY TESTED THE ESSAOUIRA GUIDE

AND THEY SAY IT BEST!

“We had already visited Essaouira on our own, but this time we took a guide to learn more, and we didn’t regret it! We learned a lot of things that you don't necessarily find on the Internet or in guidebooks. The guide was great, a real fountain of knowledge! Thanks to him, we also met many artisans who explained their work to us. Highly recommended +++”

“We took a guided tour of Essaouira’s medina, and it was a real immersion into the history and culture of this fortress city. The guide shared anecdotes about the city's creation and architectural details that we would have never noticed or understood on our own. The walk through the narrow streets, between the souks and the ramparts, was both enriching and enjoyable. I highly recommend this experience to discover Essaouira from a different perspective.”
