Discover an authentic, immersive experience with Hafida. Throughout her childhood Hafida immersed herself in Amazigh culture: she helped her family produce precious argan oil and watched her mother cook over a wood fire. As she grew up, she wanted to share this with the curious travelers she welcomes in her traditional home in the countryside south of Essaouira.
Put on traditional Berber clothing to get fully involved in the experience, then head to the nearby forest to collect small pieces of wood to light the traditional oven. Next, let Hafida or her sister Khalthoum guide you as you try your hand at kneading bread dough before baking it according to Berber tradition (we won’t spoil the surprise!).
The best part? The tasting, there’s nothing better than Berber bread, especially when accompanied by honey, argan oil and amlou (the Moroccan version of Nutella). This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to discover traditional Berber life and chat with Hafida and her family, who are lovely.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR BERBER BREAD WORKSHOP ?
When booking, please specify your preferred date and time slot, as well as the name and address of your hotel.
You can combine this workshop with other experiences at Hafida and her family's home: argan oil-making workshop, Berber cooking classes and/or meals with the locals. Just let us know when you book!
A few tips to avoid faux pas: In Morocco, men and women shake hands but don’t kiss on the cheek. We eat with the right hand (unless using a fork). Shoes should be removed before stepping on a carpet. Wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, and women should avoid low necklines.
If you'd prefer to bring your hosts a small gift instead of leaving a tip, culinary or artisanal specialties from your region are always a good choice.
Hafida and her family sell their own production of Argan oil (for culinary and cosmetic use), Amlou (a spread made from almonds, honey, and argan oil), and honey. Take the opportunity to buy local and bring quality products back home !
And above all, don’t eat too much before the experience!
