Push open the door of Hamid's workshop, a cobbler in the heart of Agadir since 1991. There is no fuss here: the tools, the hides and the smell of leather immediately set the tone. You choose your model in advance, babouches or Birkenstocks, then go through every stage, drawing the template, cutting, stitching, assembly and gluing, until you see your pair take shape in your hands.

Meet Mustapha, a potter since 1986. When you arrive, he tells you about the origin of his clay and the traditional techniques, before handing you over to one of his workers to move on to the hands-on part.
